WEEE Regulations Statement

The WEEE Regulations

The European Union's Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive was introduced to encourage the disposal of Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment in an environmentally friendly way. Items that are effected by these regulations are marked with a crossed wheelie bin as shown to the left. Items that are marked in this way should, at the end of their useful life, be taken to a designated collection point for recycling.

Items marked with this symbol should not be disposed of in household or general waste.

Our Responsibility

Absolute Data Services Ltd introduces Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) onto the UK market and as such has responsibility as a Producer under the WEEE directive for these products. Our main responsibilities as a Producer are:

  • To provide collection, recycling and treatment arrangements to business end-users for any Obligated WEEE.
  • To contribute towards the costs involved in processing WEEE collected at household recycling sites.

We are committed to satisfying our obligations under the WEEE regulations and to helping in the recovery and recycling of those products for which we are responsible once they reach their end of life.

What is 'Obligated WEEE'?

Obligated WEEE is product which is marked with a crossed wheelie bin and date bar, and which we have introduced to the UK market. Where an existing product, that was purchased before 13 August 2005, is being replaced by a new item of EEE that we have placed on the UK market, and where that replacement is on a like-for-like basis, the existing product is also considered as Obligated WEEE.

We currently introduce products manufactured by AnMo Electronics Corp (Dino-Lite) and Terasic Technologies (Terasic) into the UK market. To identify the products that we have placed onto the market, and to confirm that the products have been obtained through our approved supply chain, we afix the following label. This will be located on the device itself, a cable connected to the device or if neither of these are practical on the product packaging:

Producer Compliance Scheme and Registration Details

As a producer we are required to join a Producer Compliance Scheme (PCS) and to register with the Environment Agency. We have selected to join the WeeeCare PCS and are registered as both a Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Consumer (B2C) Producer. WeeeCare handle our WEEE collection obligations and ensure that we contribute a proportional sum towards the processing of WEEE that finds its way to household recycling sites.
